OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVE
Aimed to introduce the concept of sustainable fashion and its growing relevance in the global fashion industry.

The objective was to:

• Educate students on the concept of sustainability, and how it is ingrained in the Indian culture. Introducing them to three pillars of sustainability. 
• Highlight the importance of ethical production, sustainable materials, and circular fashion models.
• Encourage students to explore sustainable practices in their design projects and future professional work.
PROCESS AND CONTENT
Introduction to Sustainable Fashion
Akshaya defined sustainable fashion as the practice of designing, producing, and consuming fashion in ways that minimize environmental impact and promote fair labor practices.
Discussed key principles, including:
• Use of eco-friendly materials (organic cotton, hemp, recycled fabrics).
• Low-waste production techniques (zero-waste cutting, upcycling).
• Ethical labor practices (fair wages, safe working conditions).
Examples of Sustainable Brands
Akshaya presented five notable sustainable fashion brands to illustrate practical applications of these principles:
• Chamar Studio
• Doodlage
• Neyth
• Pabiben.com
• Suta
Discussion and Engagement
• Students were encouraged to critically analyze the strategies adopted by these brands.
• Akshaya facilitated an interactive session where students discussed challenges and opportunities in adopting sustainable practices.
• Students brainstormed ideas for incorporating sustainable principles in their design projects.
CONCLUSION AND OUTCOME
• Students gained a clear understanding of sustainable fashion and the importance of ethical design practices.
• They were able to identify key elements of sustainability within the showcased brands.
• The session inspired students to explore innovative ways to apply sustainable methods in their own designs.
• Akshaya concluded by encouraging students to research emerging trends in sustainable materials and business models to create environmentally and socially responsible fashion solutions.​​​​​​​
